ART
Join us as we take a closer look at each of the elements of art. Using different art techniques, we will explore each of the elements: color, value, line, texture, shape, form, and space. After focusing on individual elements, we will combine our new skills in multifaceted projects. We will explore different types of media including pastels, acrylics, watercolor, clay, paper, and more!
GYM
All people of all cultures are of great value to God. And what God creates and values, we also should value. The Bible speaks of people “from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages,” praising God at His throne. (Rev. 7:9) This year, in addition to traditional gym games and fitness activities, I would like to celebrate our diverse human heritage by introducing games from around the world to our students.
MUSIC
This year, we plan to immerse students in the wonders of music through various engaging classes. Our music program includes:
Note Ninjas (Adventures): Notes are ringing! Students will explore musical elements of rhythm, melody, and harmony as they learn to ring handbells. Listening skills, gross motor skills, and cooperative work will increase as they play in an ensemble with color-coded bells.
Recorder Roundup (Navigators): Students will learn the basics of playing the recorder: blowing into the recorder to make a beautiful tone, fingering, and reading notes/rhythms on the treble staff. They will develop a sense of steady beat and ensemble playing while learning to play several songs.
Vocal FX 101 (Pioneers): This class focuses on part singing and developing the inner ear for more confident in-tune singing. Students will sing rounds, and two- and three-part music, emphasizing old spirituals, folk songs, camp songs, and sacred music.
Students can showcase their progress and newfound skills on the last day of class. Join us for a harmonious and enriching musical journey!
